Precise Omega Watches

Omega watches have always been synonymous with quality and precision.

Founded by Louis Brandt in 1848, omega watches have humble roots. At the young age 23, Louis Brandt opened an assembly workshop in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the Swiss watch making capitol. Through the winter months, Brandt assembled pocket watches with parts supplied by local craftsmen. Then, when spring came about, Brandt set out all over Europe to sell his watches. With Brandt's death, his sons, Louis-Paul and Cesar, took over and in 1879, were not satisfied with the assembly business and decided to take on production of parts as well. With this move, the first fully in-house produced Omega watches were born.

The name Omega did not come about until 1894, when the company began producing a new pocket watch caliber movement. The company's banker at the time, Henri Rieckle, suggested the name "Omega" for the new watch and the brothers liked it so much, they decided to name all of their watches Omega.

Throughout the years, Omega Watches has grown from the small assembly workshop into one of the most well known watch brands in the world. This fame does not however come without warrant. Omega watches have kept official time for the American Army, NASA, and the Olympic games. Their timekeepers have come up with numerous innovations including the timing of 1/1000th of a second. The Omega Megaquartz marine chronometer kept accurate time to within two thousandths of a second for 63 consecutive days. Their engineers and watch makers continue to strive for excellence and perfection with new innovative products.
